BEST PLACES FOR NIGHTTIME PHOTOGRAPHY
There are great places for nighttime photography in and around Tonopah whether you want to capture only the night sky or have a landmark in the foreground. The best place for nighttime photography is the Tonopah Historic Mining Park but night access is only granted for one of the Nighttime Photography Workshops, usually held in the late summer or fall.
You can capture one of the headframes, the Silver Top, from outside the park on Mineral Street. Mineral Street runs parallel to Main Street behind the Mizpah Hotel. If you prefer a nature setting for your astrophotography, you will find many natural formations around Tonopah such as the Crescent Sand Dunes, about 15 miles north of town off Highway 95.
Know before you go!
Learn everything you need to know to safely travel the Park to Park route.
Nevada is home to some really, REALLY wide open spaces. That means no cell service sometimes and long stretches
of highway with no gas stations, and yep, no restrooms. So please always be prepared for these conditions.
